From March 18 to 21, the 57th China (Guangzhou) International Furniture Fair took place as scheduled. Under the theme “All Things Coexist: The Natural Resonance of Furniture,” Pablo transformed its exhibition space into a symbolic “desert.” More than a product display, it was an immersive spatial experiment exploring the relationship between nature, texture, and everyday life.
The entire pavilion was conceived as a progressive experiential journey, woven together through eight natural chapters: Rhythm of Water, Sprout of Green, Cornerstone of Sand, Legacy of Fire, Weave of Light, Eternity of Rock, Courtyard of Wind, and Symbiosis of Stars. From the imagery of nascent life to the warmth of human connection, each segment gave voice to a fragment of nature’s order.
Rhythm of Water – The journey begins with water. The installation “Shunde · Loong,” co-created with artist Lu Biaobiao, translates the cultural heritage of Lingnan dragon boats into a contemporary furniture vocabulary. Seven pieces come together to form a dragon boat that rides the waves, and with the projection of flowing water, they open a prologue on the origin of nature.
Sprout of Green – The atmosphere gradually shifts toward growth and renewal. Created in collaboration with the lifestyle brand “Songtude” led by actor Zhou Yiwei, the “Song” collection of daybeds and side tables draws inspiration from the pine tree. Upholstered in Florentine brocade fabric from Italy, the pieces convey the tranquility and poise of an Eastern mountain forest.
Cornerstone of Sand – At the heart of a composed and restrained space stands the Jazz Sofa. Its low center of gravity imparts a calm, grounded strength, while the interplay of leather and textile makes the mood even more introspective. The enclosed layout invites people to pause without hesitation, as though entering a cigar room tucked deep within the city – the light is intentionally subdued, the air seems steeped in the patina of time, conversations slow down, and the mind finds its place.
Legacy of Fire – The setting moves into the intimate sphere of private life, where the bed takes center stage. Embroidered with motifs of trees, blossoms, and birds, and set against misty green walls, it evokes the deep hush of a secluded mountain valley. Clean lines and tender fabrics together convey the warmth of living.
Weave of Light – The most theatrical chapter. Light cascades from above, carving out a stage-like structure of illumination and shadow. The 1001 Lounge Chair, inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, is dressed in earthy fabrics that feel warm to the touch, like sun-heated sand. The marble coffee table alongside it has received a leather-textured acid-wash finish, achieving a gentle yet restrained tactility.
Eternity of Rock – Color turns bold and saturated. Pieces in vivid red, green, and blue create striking contrasts within the space. A dual living room arrangement builds a sense of order through symmetry, conveying a timeless dimension in which furniture can accompany daily life for years to come.
Courtyard of Wind – The space opens up with a sense of lightness, surrounded by greenery. The Island Sofa, with its curved enclave form, subverts the conventional layout and makes interaction feel more natural. The Smile Chair, the BB Chair, and other accessories bring an extra touch of lived-in vitality.
Symbiosis of Stars – The journey comes full circle, back to the human bond. A long table surrounded by an array of chairs shapes a free-flowing zone, symbolizing that amidst the vastness of nature, life ultimately finds its way back to the connection between people.
The spatial design was curated by DPD designer Lin Zhen, who constructed an architecturally narrative exhibition language through column formations, courtyards, symmetrical compositions, and light installations. Pablo joined forces with Tre Gazze and Tassani in an in-depth collaboration that spanned materials and spatial details, bringing this “desert” conversation about life into reality. In this setting, the brands stepped back, and space itself became the storyteller.
The “Shunde · Loong” installation is rooted in Shunde’s dragon boat culture, with threads of red, green, black, white, and yellow intertwining to form a wave-breaking dragon boat—a visual anchor charged with narrative energy. The co-branded “Song” collection takes the pine as its muse; the daybed and side table employ brocade craftsmanship and a multi-layer high-resilience structure, blending Eastern grace with modern comfort. Meanwhile, key pieces such as the Jazz Sofa, the 1001 Lounge Chair, and the Island Sofa each articulate Pablo’s thinking on materiality, proportion, and contemporary lifestyle within their respective settings.
Notably, Pablo’s Noah Sofa and Chrysler Chair both won the CIFF Design Awards this year. The accolade is not only professional recognition of their design aesthetics and craftsmanship quality but also further confirms Pablo’s in-depth exploration and expression of contemporary lifestyle under the theme of “The Natural Resonance of Furniture.”
The exhibited works put a strong emphasis on authentic materials and refined tactility. From custom-woven brocade fabrics produced in Florentine ateliers, to marble treated with a leather-textured acid wash, to cotton-grain fabrics in earthy hues – every detail answers the language of nature. Colors such as dune yellow, oasis green, canyon red, and deep-space black unfold layer by layer, shaping an immersive visual journey.
When you step into that desert which alludes to nature’s order, when you pause, sit down, feel the texture of the fabric with your fingertips, and let your gaze follow the shifts of light – in that very moment, you hear it: the natural echo resonating from deep within the furniture.
