In July, Paris witness the stunning debut of PABLO NOW at the "REVIVING: Le patrimoine culturel immatériel et le design contemporain de la Chine".
The "REVIVING" exhibition is co-curated by Yang Lan, Chairperson of Sun Media Group, and Su Dan, Curator, PhD advisor at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the China National Arts and Crafts Museum and China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum.
The exhibition will be divided into five themed spaces representing MetalWood, Water, Fire, and Earth. These spaces will showcase the Chinese cultural philosophy ofharmony between heaven and humanity, demon-strating how continuous integration andrenewal occur amidst change. In the era of artificial intelligence, it aims to rediscover thewisdom of handcrafted creations.
As a co-curator, Yang Lan has been involved in producing several programs related to the inheritance and revital-ization of intangible cultural heritage in recent years. Throughout this process, she has deeply appreciated the profoundness and exquisite craftsmanship of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. The year 2024 is particularly significant for Sino-French cultural exchange and cooperation. It marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and is also the Year of China-France Cultural Tourism. Yang Lan hopes that this exhibition can serve as a significant project in the field of intangible cultural heritage design and craftsmanship, participating in the China-France Year of Cultural Tourism.
The "Exposition Reviving Craft Metiers D' Art Et Design Contemporain De La Chine" exhibition has been included in the framework of the 2024 China-France Year of Cultural Tourism by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, making it an official project of the Year of Cultural Tourism. The exhibition will be held from July 6th to July 19h at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, located In the west wing of the Louvre.
Delving into the profound depths of Chinese civilization, the spirit of "pioneering and daring to be the first" has always been a highly representative national ethos. This spirit, combined with local cultural extensions, symbolizes the competitive and vigorous essence of "Shunde Loong—The Soul of Dragon Boat Culture," as envisioned by PABLO NOW lead designer Feng yaoxiang and artist Lu Biaobiao.
Located in Foshan, Guangdong Province, Shunde is renowned not only for its cuisine but also for its vibrant folk culture, particularly the dragon boat culture.
Originating from the ancient tradition of commemorating Qu Yuan during the Dragon Boat Festival, dragon boat racing has become a significant annual event in Shunde. It is not just a sports competition but a symbol of unity, perseverance, and courage for the people of Shunde.
The dragon boat racing, as a national intangible cultural heritage, aligns perfectly with the theme of the exhibition. PABLO NOW aims to integrate Shunde's dragon boat culture into the exhibition to showcase the profound cultural heritage of Shunde and its farreaching impact on enterprises and brands.
Through this theme, PABLO NOW aims not only to showcase its brand value but also to promote the folk culture of Shunde enriching the brand's cultural content. For this exhibition, PABLO NOW has created the"Shunde Loong" art installation, drawing inspiration from the shape of dragon boats and presenting a combination of seven representative products. Boldly using a color palette of red, green, black, white, and yellow associated with dragon boats, each product is endowed with its unique spirit.
